HEALTHCARE ESTATES ‘All matters medical gas’
Founded in 1967, SHJ Medical Gas Specialists is a leading supplier of medical gas pipeline systems and services, and ‘a market-leader’ in remote AI monitoring and energy-saving technologies. The company said: “Winner of the
Healthcare Supplier of the Year Award at the IHEEM Healthcare Estates 2021 Awards, we have been delivering leading innovations to the NHS and private sector healthcare providers across the UK for over 50 years. At this year’s event, our eye-catching stand will be situated opposite the VIP networking area, in the centre of the hall, where we will be welcoming visitors to discuss all matters medical gas. Meeting short- and long-term needs for extra clinical capacity
On its stand, Vanguard Healthcare Solutions will demonstrate how it is – as it puts it – ‘uniquely capable’ of meeting short- and long-term needs for additional capacity. The company said: “Mobile facilities, including operating theatres, wards, clinics, and endoscopy suites, provide alternative capacity during refurbishments, and additional capacity for times of peak demand or for reducing waiting times. The latest additions to our mobile facilities are a 10-bed ward, and a laminar flow theatre with a 49 m2
operating room. Mobile
facilities can be integrated seamlessly with the main hospital, or with modular builds, allowing for flexibility in design, while reducing build times and costs.” Vanguard uses modular construction ‘to provide exactly the facility required in
Helping hospitals under increasing pressure
With hospitals under increasing pressure, and demand for services growing, fuelled by an ageing population, existing healthcare facilities are struggling to cope, and staff are in increasingly short supply. Against this backdrop, Siemens says
high energy consumption and CO2 emissions are forcing new approaches to reaching carbon neutrality. The company said: “Digitalisation is the enabler – creating huge opportunities for those who embrace it. It transforms processes and approaches to make hospitals more efficient – operationally, financially, and sustainably – and more future-proof. “Siemens Xcelerator is the catalyst to accelerate the digital and sustainable transformation of your hospital – an open digital business platform with the ambition to create a powerful ecosystem of partners. It makes digital transformation easier, faster, and at scale, and is helping revolutionise hospitals at human, financial, and operational levels. By accelerating the digital transformation of hospitals, staff efficiency is optimised, the patient experience is enhanced, and the drive to an energy- efficient and sustainable facility is supported.”
a fraction of the time taken by traditional building methods’. Facilities built for the NHS include multiple-theatre surgical hubs, wards, and endoscopy suites. The company said: “The ability to provide high-quality clinical capacity at speed makes Vanguard an ideal partner for emergencies or short-notice refurbishments. Response speed can be reduced further by the preparation of a contingency plan.”
Chemical-free water treatment
IWTM UK will be showing the IWTM Protector range of chemical-free water treatment for chilled and heat networks. Since opening its UK office five years
ago, IWTM says it has established and proven the efficacy of chemical- free water treatment, with healthcare installation becoming one of its fastest- growing markets. The company said: “After helping a Northern Ireland Trust replace its chemical treatment with chemical- free, we saw an ROI in just 10 months. The Trust was paying over £60,000
per annum for chemical inhibitors and biocides, which has now been reduced to just £2600 a year for chemical-free consumables, while avoiding a hefty £280,000 chemical flush and clean. A Middlesex- based Trust, meanwhile, avoided a £180,000 quote for a chemical flush and clean by installing the IWTM Protector solution for under £20,000.”

MD, David Whitfield, said: “Our clients continually talk about the reliability of our solution. We improve system performance and efficiency, and have had clients present our solution to other Trusts in their region”. On the stand will be the new digital units, which offer real-time monitoring of water quality.
