INSTITUTE NEWS A varied programme of webinars planned
Earlier this year, as the COVID-19 pandemic began to evolve, Ian Hinitt, IHEEM’s President, announced that to protect the health and safety of members, delegates, exhibitors, staff, and volunteers, the Institute would be deferring all of its face-to face events planned for 2020. This included the Healthcare Estates Conference, Exhibition, and Awards Dinner 2020 scheduled for October in Manchester. However, to support both its individual and corporate members to ‘Stay Connected, Keep Informed, and Get Ahead’, the Institute has been hard at work developing a series of online webinars and events offering a variety of resources and information. IHEEM’s Marketing & Events Manager, Melissa Glass, said: “Healthcare Estates Online 2020 was designed to give members free access to several planned speakers via a safe format, live or on-demand session to refer to at a convenient time. There have already been a number of well-received webinars from our exhibitor community, and a full week’s programme of events will be launched under the banner of “Digital Week’ on 5 October, with daily themes including National Policy, Science & Technology, Workforce, Design, and International. Members will have the opportunity to ‘Stay Connected’ through a series of live and on- demand webinars, ‘Keep Informed’ about how innovation continues to play a major part in meeting the significant healthcare engineering and estates challenges raised by the global pandemic, and to ‘Get Ahead’ with knowledge-sharing and CPD- accredited content. All of this underpins the Institute’s commitment to strengthening its national and international profile by providing a platform for discussion and knowledge-sharing, as well as creating an online community for members to engage and network with other healthcare associations and institutes.”

Meanwhile, plans for Healthcare Estates in 2021 are already well in hand. Event Director, Steve Webb, said: “We’ve had a tremendous response from exhibitors to our plans, although many were disappointed that the event had to be postponed, with the vast majority pledging their continued support into 2021. We have a number of exciting new initiatives for next year’s event, and will continue with our online activities to a rapidly expanding community.” Healthcare Estates 2021, the UK’s largest event for healthcare estates management and healthcare engineering personnel, and facilities management professionals, will take place from 19-20 October 2021 at Manchester Central.
