SPECIALIST ARCHITECTURE Importance of hoists
The inclusion of hoists to all bedrooms was critical to the overall design. Pamela McKenzie commented: “The hoists are hugely important to carry out manual handling as swiftly and easily as possible. It can be quite a painful and traumatic experience for a client, so that ease of movement from bed to bathroom is of paramount importance.”
Budgetary constraints within both projects had to be addressed throughout the design processes, as well as during construction; however Sue Ryder and JDDK Architects worked together closely to prioritise those areas which would be of maximum benefit to the clients, with cost savings focused on other areas of the project. An example of this is the hydrotherapy pool in Lancashire; while this was a large item of expense for Sue Ryder, it was strongly felt that the significant benefit to the clients was worth the additional expenditure.
Post-Occupancy Evaluation In order to understand the successes or limitations of both projects, JDDK Architects conducted Post Occupancy Evaluation with Sue Ryder to ascertain which elements of each building are working well, or otherwise. For JDDK Architects this is a very typical approach to completed buildings, and facilitates a
AERMEC (UV) FCZ-H Sanitising fan coil
Disinfects the air killing bacteria, including COVID-19
Is your ventilation strategy fit for purpose? Covid-19 and other pathogens can spread through the air, so now’s the time to minimise risks.
UV has a track record for disinfecting patient and operating rooms, now it can be used in HVAC systems to provide continuously sanitised air.
Aermec’s energy efficient ultra violet (UV) FCZ-H sanitising fan coils are designed to help improve the quality of indoor air and reduce the threat of virus transmission without compromising comfort.
