‘Step change’ in fight against HAIs monitors positioned in critical
Angel Guard has developed what it claims is the world’s first clinical washbasin with AI Technology – ‘a genuine step change in the fight against healthcare-acquired infections’.
Its Michael and Gabriel units incorporate a variety of different precision sensors monitoring many parameters ‘24/7’, including current flow, last flow event, periods of flow, hot and cold incoming temperatures, current temperatures, and temperature changes in between flow events. Units have up to three biofilm

areas, including within the outlet. Each unit risk assesses itself ‘24/7’ based on the aforementioned data and other data such as number of uses, last clean, whether unauthorised liquid has been
poured down the basin, when and what was the last countermeasure issued, and its effectiveness. A risk level is then assigned to the unit, and, if required, a countermeasure will be either requested (Gabriel), or issued
P4, reportedly the UK’s largest independent self-testing emergency lighting specialist, says it has ‘again been breaking new ground’ by becoming the first to be awarded an enhanced level BSI kitemark for lighting. Certification to the BSI Mark of Trust Kitemark for IoT Devices has been achieved for its Fastel systems M-Web Controller ecosystem. The Kitemark for Internet of Things devices is designed to address the potential for cyber threats to all internet- enabled products. Any connected device has the potential to be exploited by hackers as a way to access personal data and disrupt or divert services.
The M-Web system has undergone rigorous testing at BSI’s laboratory to demonstrate that it is secure, minimising vulnerability to attack. This is an ongoing process, with the whole system to be assessed by BSI every six months to ensure it remains secure against any new-found ways of hacking. P4 added: “This landmark is particularly significant for the healthcare industry, as it eliminates the risk of access to clinical systems and equipment, patient records, online prescriptions, and proprietary research data. With an existing second Kitemark for automatic self-testing of emergency lighting already awarded to the M-Web system, it is a clear choice for improving security, as well as being absolutely reliable when it comes to guiding people to safety in an emergency. However, this system is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to P4’s emergency lighting capabilities.”
automatically (Michael), with all actions and data stored for future reference.
The technology in Angel Guard’s Infection Prevention Hygiene System guides a user through a full handwash cycle. Using video and a countdown timer,
each stage is represented and carefully monitored. Users are identified, with full individual and group handwash history available to help ensure high levels of compliance.
