JCM Global Lights the Stage in Oklahoma

US - Penn rebrands Greektown Casino Penn National Gaming has confirmed that Greektown Casino-Hotel, which operates a 100,000sq.ft gaming, entertainment, and dining destination along with a 400-room, 30-storey hotel in downtown Detroit, is expected to be renamed Hollywood Casino at Greektown. In addition to a new name, the property will undergo several changes and additions to the look, feel, and experience of the destination.

“Becoming Hollywood Casino at Greektown will offer our guests the best of both worlds — we’re keeping all of the unique, neighborhood charm that has defined Greektown since we opened our doors, while adding several new amenities that come with being a part of Penn National’s flagship brand family,” said John Drake, GM of Hollywood Casino at Greektown.

Additional highlights of the rebranding of Greektown Casino-Hotel to Hollywood Casino at Greektown include welcoming overnight guests with a recently unveiled $30m renovation of its 1,200 square foot hotel lobby, complete with new intimate cocktail bar and a total redesign of all 400 of its guestrooms and suites, which is expected to be completed in the coming months. All the property’s carpets, hallways, elevator vestibules, and other common areas have received a floor-to-ceiling refresh, and the facility has further underscored guest comfort and safety with the HVAC system.

Te ‘new business and investment opportunity’ has been called ‘Project Toroughbred’ and will see the tribe invest $25m for a share of 44 per cent in commercial gaming opportunities. Cory Blankenship, EBCI Secretary of Finance and a board member of EBCI Holdings, said: “It allows us to go into a new state with a gaming property under a partnership agreement so the tribe’s not on the hook 100 per cent. We will actually have a 44 per cent equity stake. We’re not the only ones seeking this opportunity, but it appears that we are in the lead because of the reputation of the Eastern Band and because we have a 30- year track record of being responsible in this industry. I think that we’ve got a really good shot at this, and it is time- sensitive.”
