Duluth, GA — Viscom has released its vVision 2.4 operating system. Among the latest enhancements are time-saving inspection program creation, espe- cially for new and special components, and com- prehensive 3D advancements, such as 3D solder joint inspection for chips. Rapid product changeovers and various com-

ponent manufacturers in electronics production demand flexible automatic optical inspection. With vVision 2.4, switching between existing inspection programs and the development of new programs is much easier. A new inspection pattern tool for NPI was also developed to handle new component types.

This tool effectively uses existing libraries, as

well as the 3D technology of AOI systems, to auto- matically assign components in the new layout to existing inspection patterns. With this approach, time for inspection program creation is reduced significantly. In addition to an evaluated de-

fect image in the center of the display, optional good and bad examples are presented for comparison. The defect

SEGGER Offers New Modular Gang Programmer

Gardner, MA — SEGGER has intro- duced its Flasher ATE, a new modu- lar gang programmer. It uses the same Turbo-Mode and Universal Flash loaders proven in the Flasher PRO and other members of the Flasher family. Flasher ATE supports up to 10

completely individual parallel pro- gramming channels. Each channel has its own programming circuit and memory, allowing it to be used indi- vidually and at maximum program- ming speed on every channel. In mass production, the in-sys-

tem programming process is usually tightly coupled with the testing facil- ities, such as automatic test equip- ment (ATE) or similar devices. Flasher ATE comes with a

ready-to-use UART communication channel, handshake lines, USB, and Ethernet interfaces. Any of these can be used to control its operation. The built-in web and FTP servers allow updates and monitoring from a near- by production control office. Support for programming of

unique serial numbers and patch data is also included.

site and further additional information can be dis- played on a second monitor or by pressing the shift key. Based on the images from the cameras and the 3D height measurement, along with 360° viewing, components can be inspected from all angles.

shadowing. The texture from all viewing directions — including the side views — ensures that the in- spected component is represented as true to life as possible. Inspection results from special compo- nents can be checked visually for detected defects and faulty solder joints. To support traceability, screenshots and 3D

images can now be directly saved at any time with the integrated Live Snapper. The new version also includes advanced OCR recognition, which uses in- telligent algorithms to ensure automatic component

reading and reliable evaluation. Contact: Viscom Inc., 1775 Breckinridge

Flasher ATE can program any

on- or off-chip memory. All that is required is a flash loader, which is already available for most popular devices and can be created for all others.
