Microchip Intros Smart Memory Controllers

CHANDLER, AZ — The continu- ous computational demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) workloads, cloud computing and data analyt- ics deployed on traditional parallel attached memory have reached an efficiency plateau due to the limita- tions of in creased memory channels on a processor. Microchip Technology

has expanded its serial- attached memory con- troller portfolio with the new SMC 2000 series of Compute Express Link™ (CXL™) based smart memory controllers that enable CPUs, GPUs and SoCs to utilize CXL interfaces to connect either DDR4 or DDR5 memory. This solution delivers more

memory bandwidth per core, more memory capacity per core, and lowers the overall total cost of ownership in the data center by allowing modern CPUs to optimize application workloads. The low-latency SMC 2000

16 x 32G and SMC 2000 8 x 32G memory controllers are designed to CXL 1.1 and CXL 2.0 specifi- cations, DDR4 and DDR5 JEDEC standards and support PCIe® 5.0 specification speeds. The SMC 2000 16 x 32G is the industry’s highest-capacity con- troller with 16 lanes operating at

32 GT/s and supports two chan- nels of DDR4-3200 or DDR5- 4800, resulting in a significant reduction in the required num- ber of host CPU or SoC pins per memory channel.

SMC 2000 smart memory controller. Typical CXL attached mem-

ory modules include 512 GB of memory or more, providing an effective mechanism to increase the memory bandwidth available to processing cores. This new paradigm shift provides data center operators the ability to deploy a broader range of ratios for memory to CPU cores depending on their actual appli- cation needs, resulting in improved memory utilization and lower Total Cost of

Ownership (TCO). Contact: Microchip Technol - ogy, Inc., 2355 West Chandler

Mitsubishi Releases Servo Motion Economy Solutions

VERNON HILLS, IL — Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. has introduced economy solutions, packaged servo and motion bundles that allow for high precision motion control in a way that is quick and afford- able to integrate. Three different bun-

dles are currently avail- able: compact motion, basic motion, and pulse motion. Compact motion delivers premium per- formance and is avail- able in up to 7.0 kWs. It offers up to eight axes of synchronized motion per module and operates on the new CC-Link IE Time-Sensitive Network (TSN) allowing for improved communications speed. Basic motion is the most

 RoHS

affordable option and uses the integrated networking of the iQ-F compact PLC to control servo amplifiers and motors at a very low cost. It operates over the CC- Link IE Field Basic network and allows the integration of other IE Field Basic compatible devices. It is best suited for small systems. Pulse motion allows for easy

integration with third party PLCs. It operates over pulse train communication, which makes it able to communicate with almost any PLC. Also suit- ed for smaller systems, it does not require a motion module.

Servo and motion bundle. following benefits:

All three options provide the removes

guesswork from selecting parts; guaranteed compatibility be - tween components; sample pro- grams to help customers get up to speed faster; and flexibility and configurability to meet exact

requirements. Contact: Mitsubishi Electric
