Aschheim-Dornach, Germany — Yamaichi Electronics has introduced its Y-Lock series, a flex- ible flat cable (FFC) board-to-cable system for automotive applications that is available in three versions. The system has a special way of locking,


which works without opening or closing a flap or drawer and without actuating an unlocking mech- anism. In the first version, the interlock is provid- ed by a ratchet hook on the housing of the connec- tor, which engages behind the supporting tape of the FFC. Both contacting and removing the FFC are easy. The Y-Lock version two includes an addition-


al plastic stiffener that engages the connector. This system makes guiding the FFC and inserting it into the connector more convenient. The pull out force for the second version has been increased from about 10 to 25N. The third version has additional
