STEVE DAVIES TO CHAIR NEW

INDUSTRY BODY Steve Davies, Managing Director of Support Services at Compass Group UK and Ireland, has been voted Chair of the merged body of Asset Skills, CSSA and FMA, following the new organisation’s first board meeting.

Davies will work closely with the board, comprised of members from the previous boards of Asset Skills, CSSA and FMA. Christine Amyes, Executive Director of People at New Charter Housing Trust Group, and Malcolm Cannon, Chief Executive of Lomond Capital, have joined from Asset Skills.

Tony Clarke, Managing Director of Monthind, and Douglas Cooke, Chief

Executive of Principle Cleaning Services, will accompany them and were previous members of the CSSA board. John Moriarty, FSI Managing Director, and Ian West, Commercial Director at Vinci, are the final board members and were members of the FMA board.

Chris Cracknell, the retiring Chair of Asset Skills, commented: “I’m delighted the new board has had its inaugural meeting and is now in a position to take things forward. This merger is such a positive development for the sector and will bring so many benefits to the numerous businesses and people working within it and I have every confidence in the new Chair, Steve Davies, who I am certain will steer progress in the right direction and ensure a strong future for the organisation and wider industry as a whole.”

While the new board has been confirmed, the body has yet to be officially named. Discussion surrounding the branding of the merged organisation continues and announcements are expected to be made soon.

JANET STREET- PORTER ADDED TO ECOBUILD LINE-UP

Journalist and broadcaster, Janet Street-Porter has been added to the speaker line-up for this year’s Ecobuild at London’s ExCeL. Joining over 100 experts, ministers and VIPs at the world’s leading event for sustainable design, construction, energy and the built environment, Street-Porter will speak at the Ecobuild 10th Anniversary Talks – perspectives on the sustainability journey.

The session will highlight a variety of personal perspectives with speakers

delivering their thoughts on how far we have come on the sustainability agenda and their predictions over the next few years.

Ecobuild 2012 saw Street-Porter take part in a debate which looked at sustainable communities in response to the London riots. Earlier this month, she also showed off her green credentials at the opening of the North East’s first bio- energy plant.
