special programme of content-rich seminars called The Exchange. The 20 free talks will be packed with advice, new innovations and case studies for delegates to learn from. For instance, working environments and the way people work have changed enormously, and in ways that were hard to predict. Workplace design expert, Oliver Baxter, from Herman Miller, will discuss how scenario planning helps companies understand and anticipate how the workplace could change.
FMs looking for the best environmental option for disposing of flooring from refurbishment projects will find the talk by Jane Gardner from Axion Consulting invaluable. Whilst those who see investing time, expertise and money on training new personnel as a waste, will not want to miss the talk by Servest Group. The speakers, who work within the company will share their experiences and explain the benefits training has brought them and the company.
Gary Watkins, Software Expert and Managing Director at Service Works, will describe a no-nonsense approach to buying a Computer
Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software system. This will include how to write a business case document for a CAFM investment and what facts and figures should be included to win over the financial director.
Running alongside The Exchange will be FM Matters, featuring experts from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Norland, Servicebrand Global and Interserve FM, debating critical FM topics. This will include a series of ‘Day in The Life’ talks where senior executives – Debra Ward, Managing Director of Macro; Brendan Murray FM Business Manager, Compliance & Performance Management at Defra Network Estates; and Nick Loveland, Director of Operations at Performances Birmingham (THSH) – talk about their role, sites, and daily FM headaches.
LIONS’ LAIR Attendees eager to see the latest
innovations in action should check out Lions’ Lair which will be run on the show floor. This contest will see the event’s new technologies, innovations and concepts pitched to an expert panel in a bid to be voted best of show.
COMPLEMENTARY
CO-LOCATIONS Facilities Management 2014 also runs alongside two other highly relevant shows. The first of these is Maintec, which is in its 39th year and is the UK’s only event focused on the needs of maintenance, plant and asset management professionals. The second is the new Health & Safety Event which, with a free conference programme devised by the British Safety Council, will be a major bonus for FMs who increasingly need to consider employee well-being.
