VENDING & WATER COOLERS

ALL IN THE TASTE

Tony Hird, Business Development Director at Ebac, outlines why the company’s AquaSafe system is changing the way FMs look after the sanitisation of their drinking water.

Of course, gym and health club FMs have always understood that hydration is a hugely important part of keeping healthy, and water coolers have provided a convenient platform to keep their clients hydrated.

Convenience, however, is no longer a key consideration, with so many point of use (POU) coolers on the market. We are now seeing that FMs and specifiers for contracts are looking for coolers that can provide the best quality water with as little maintenance possible.

The UK is the largest market in Europe, having grown to approximately 668,000 water coolers, since its inception in 1989. The market is now split 50/50 between bottled and POU, or plumbed coolers. In recent years, there has been a migration from bottled to POU.

Ebac were one of the first companies to recognise the issues of hygiene and developed technologies that simplified the sanitisation process. It came as no surprise to Ebac to see that a recent tender to supply water

coolers into a hotel chain’s gym facilities specified AquaSafe.

AquaSafe is an award-winning technology developed by Ebac. Where most POU water coolers remove the chlorine at entry into the cooler reservoir, Aquasafe retains the protective chemicals and removes them at point of dispense. This eliminates the contamination risk to the water held in the reservoir.

This was a revolutionary change to the sanitisation process which was once a time-consuming and technical process. AquaSafe is becoming a popular choice with FMs in all sectors as sanitisation is a simple, effortless filter change. There is no longer the need for service callouts and there is no down time as the reservoir does not need to be cleaned. The chemicals in the AquaSafe system are those we drink in our normal tap water supply, while other sanitisation methods use harsh chemicals to sterilise the reservoir.

In summary, AquaSafe simplifies sanitisation and reduces

maintenance costs and time without sacrificing safe, great tasting water.
