NEW YEAR, NEW CHANCES

Environment Media Group, organiser of the European Cleaning &

Hygiene Awards, says 2018 is the time to show everyone the best that the cleaning industry has to offer.

The start of a New Year is a time most of us spend in contemplation of the highs and lows of the previous 12 months, along with thoughts of our hopes and expectations for the coming year. That’s if we’re not nursing festive hangovers of course...

Those looking back may well pick out the second European Cleaning and Hygiene Awards in November as a highlight of the cleaning calendar in 2017. We’re sure those who took home a prize from the ceremony in Rome certainly will – after all, it’s not every day you become a European champion.

LOOKING TO

THE FUTURE Anyone who is already looking forward may have their sights set on being amongst the award winners at this year’s ceremony in Berlin in September. It’s never too early to begin preparations for your entry. The competition is getting tougher year- on-year, as recognition of the standard of the awards grows; meaning everyone will need to raise their game.

30 | FEATURE

That is, after all, the purpose of the awards. They celebrate successes in an industry all too often overlooked, and help drive competition across Europe. The awards are like a more successful version of people’s oft- abandoned New Year’s Resolutions.

The 2018 awards offer the opportunity to join the likes of previous winners, including the University of Wolverhampton and SmartTask; Julius Rutherfoord & Co; FBD and Derrycourt Cleaning Specialists; WE Italia SRL; Markas; Maximum Impact, Breedweer Facilitaire Diensten; LIFE (Labour Intensive Facility Event) – ANIP Road Show and BeSense, CSU in claiming your businesses is the best in category across the whole of Europe.

Alternatively, there’s the chance for individuals to shine as Jan-Hein Hemke of Facilicom UK, Avril McCarthy of Derrycourt Cleaning Specialists, and Adolf Kruse did in 2017.

BIG BANG The New Year is often seen as something of a clean slate; rather

appropriate for the cleaning industry perhaps. We think it’s also a time to start with a big bang and really push on. Whether it’s new technology, improving the lives of employees or building stronger partnerships, the awards provide a great opportunity to demonstrate excellence. We know it’s happening out there, but you need to show it.

As they are open to manufacturers, suppliers and distributors from all over Europe, there’s no excuse not to share your success and take on the best in the industry. Maybe this time next year you too will be able to say you’re champion of Europe.
