MANCHESTER CLEANING SHOW

DETAILS REVEALED The British Cleaning Council (BCC) has revealed more details about the second Manchester Cleaning Show.

The two-day event, which will be hosted at Event City in Manchester on 11-12 April 2018, is anticipating more visitors than the 2,300 which attended the inaugural event in 2016.

Demand for exhibition stands is also reportedly higher for the second event, which alternates annually with Excel in London, and the BCC has increased capacity by 25% to accommodate the demand from trade exhibitors.

The two-day conference programme is also soon to be finalised, but the

BCC has revealed it will be largely built around a theme looking at the challenges and opportunities facing the UK’s cleaning, hygiene and waste management industries over the next five years. This will includes issues such as Brexit, the skills gap, health and safety at work, professional standards and career progression, and automation.

Senior representatives from both private and public sector organisations are due to take part in the conference. Sophie Ferriggi from Bespoke Cleaning Solutions, Dominic Ponniah from Cleanology, Tracy Hamilton from the Health & Safety Executive, and Paul Ridden from SmartTask have been confirmed. BCC members, including the Federation of Window Cleaners and the British Institute of Cleaning Science, will also be presenting.

Experts from Firedog Research – who recently conducted an in-depth analysis seen in recent years into the size, value and future direction of the UK’s cleaning, hygiene and waste management industries – will be sharing insights into the future of the sector, based on their research findings.

Stan Atkins, Chair of the British Cleaning Council, said: “In 2016 we brought The Cleaning Show to the North for the first time and we were genuinely overwhelmed by the enthusiastic support it received from both exhibitors and visitors. We also saw Steph McGovern from BBC Breakfast’s business team broadcast live from the show on the first morning, demonstrating the significance of cleaning to the UK economy.

“The fact that far in advance of next year’s event we’ve had to increase the size of the exhibition by 25% to meet demand, together with the high number of visitor registrations we’ve already seen, indicates that April’s show will be far bigger and busier than we initially anticipated.

“Further, this level of interest has been secured even before we’ve revealed the full conference programme, which we will be officially announcing in the new year. This will largely themed around the immediate future of the sector which will face unprecedented challenges and changes over the next decade, so I’m confident it will be packed out.”
