It seems there are fewer and fewer things we can predict with any long-term reliability. For instance, in the United States right now, many people believe the country’s economy is on

the upswing. However, we have heard that before, and as much as I hope this to be true this time, everything could change later in the year. Nevertheless, there is one thing I am fairly confident to report, and am happy to report it: the professional cleaning industry is getting greener and more sustainable in more and more parts of the world, including Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia.


We can compare it to an old freight train. In this case, it’s been taking its time,


and a long time at that, pulling out of the station, but it has picked up speed dramatically in the past few years. In fact, for the first time, I believe green and sustainable cleaning is the “new norm.” By this I mean, most cleaning contractors and facility managers will select a green cleaning chemical, high air filtration vacuum cleaner, or low-moisture floor machine/carpet extractor first and select a conventional, non-green product only if the alternative does not exist or, for one reason or another, does not meet their needs.
