many instances, with several companies only operating on a sustainable level. While many view this as a gimmick, it’s become so much more than this – being green shouldn’t just be a USP; we have a responsibility as a business to make a difference. If money makes the world go round, try making money in a world that is struggling to survive.

Without sounding like a green crusader (you needn’t worry about me strapping myself to a tree) I think it would be a shame for the cleaning industry, an industry with a strong

impact on the environment, to give up on green. We may have become more savvy and more aware, but is profitably and cost really enough of a motive to turn a blind eye to more pressing matters?

As with all change, it’s the leaders who have to take the chance – the rest will follow.

“Sustainability is one of the most pressing issues of the moment, and publications that shine the spotlight on businesses that are committed to good practice are playing an important role.

“The British Cleaning Council is a firm believer that business should follow the people, planet,

“In today’s competitive economic climate

businesses have to look at their products and services with multi-tasking in mind. Not only do they need to be of the highest quality and deliver excellent results, they must also help to save costs and energy.

“Using water more efficiently is a smart way for businesses to save energy and money, while also delivering on commitments to cut energy and resource wastage. As well as the financial benefits, by demonstrating your company’s water efficiency you may attract new, more environmentally aware customers and employees who are attracted by your commitment to becoming ‘greener.’

“Investing in water efficient equipment can reap benefits – and washrooms, whether for staff, customers or visitors – are an area

profit ethos- this loosely translates to businesses that invest in their staff and workforce, ensure that their products we use do not cause unnecessary damage to the environment, and commit to a sustainable balance sheet that promotes long-term stability. We look forward to Tomorrow’s Cleaning’s contribution to this important conversation that

where PHS can help. Products from its Water and Energy Saver Range help companies maintain hygienic washrooms while also significantly reducing water consumption. For example, the Flow-saver® water management system contains infra-red detection technology to regulate the flushing of urinals, and PHS’s Flush-wiser® water saving device helped The Lewis Partnership to improve their environmental rating and reduce their expenditure on water and sewerage at the same time.”

"We are finally beginning to understand that the word green i, to some extent, a ploy; a marketing spin if you like, now over the next few years we will see the real thing in terms of products, accountability, life cycle and social awareness. The green revolution hasn’t gone away, it’s just evolved – like us!"
