investment companies are upping the bar for office design and facilities. With some areas indistinguishable from chic boutique hotels, and amenities such as on-site gyms, music rooms and cafés, the modern workplace aims to be as pleasurable as possible to spend time in. Companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, HubSpot, Slack,

MICROSOFT An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD officially

opened Microsoft’s new €134 million campus, One Microsoft Place in February 2018. The new building houses 2,000 staff of 71 different nationalities and the design includes formal and informal work spaces designed to foster collaboration between different teams. Visitors are greeted by a digital lake (made from over 125,000 LED lights) in the atrium and the exhaustive range of facilities includes a music room, a yoga pod, a gym, treatment rooms, a mother’s room, a podcast room, a number of restaurants with varied cuisine types, hang out areas, play areas and relaxation rooms. All of this is complemented by views of the mountains, the nearby race track, the sea and a walking trail around the perimeter of the building. There are also plans to keep bees on the roof garden. The campus also houses DreamSpace, an innovation and education hub which aims to host and inspire 100,000 primary and transition year students over the next four years. microsoft.com
