Anne O’Leary is the CEO of Vodafone Ireland where, as part of her role, she oversees SIRO, Vodafone’s joint venture with the ESB, who are investing €450 million in the rollout of high speed fibre broadband across Ireland. She
joined Vodafone from BT
Ireland where she was Managing Director for six years and was previously Regional Director with Esat Telecom. As a champion of wellbeing and diversity in the workplace, Anne has spearheaded Vodafone securing a position as one of Ireland’s top ten Great Places to Work and achieving the Business Working Responsibly mark.
We have to change the culture and
environment in the workplace to make sure that we are not losing great female talent because of business culture, or because policies that do not provide the support flexibility are in place.

Research conducted by the 30% Club in
partnership with Dublin City University earlier this year found that four in ten (41 per cent) of all PLC boards of Irish listed companies have no female directors, and another 22 per cent have only one female representative. This compares sharply with figures in the UK where the 30% Club last year reported that 100 per cent of FTSE companies had at least one female director, and that, since 2010, the overall proportion of female directors on FTSE 100 companies had risen from 12.5 per cent to 26 per cent. Research shows that
there is a real
commercial imperative for Irish companies to address this very important issue.
