Apps for You
Calm • A great meditation app. It promotes overall help with stress and anxiety along with support to help get a better night’s sleep.
Headspace • Their mantra of “Be Kind to your Mind” comes through in this app. Great for use in the classroom as well. If you can afford it, the pre- mium version is well worth it.
Web Resources
WMEAmusic.org • Begin your search with the tremen- dous amounts of resources avail- able to you including curriculum, state standards, membership, and everything happening for your professional organization.
Makeitok.org • A great free program that provides different resources to help promote and erase the stigma of mental ill- ness. All different levels of videos are available to help with discus- sions in the classroom. You can also request free materials to help you support your students.
Mhawisconsin.org • This website allows anyone, any- where, the opportunity to access help lines, websites and resources in every county in Wisconsin. A great resource to share with your students, parents and even your administration.
ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) • The national organization. Again, a great organization and resource to tap into many different ideas, resources and discussions.
Choir Buzz • Looking for upcoming concerts? Maybe great listening sessions, choral ideas? What’s trending, what’s out, etc. This is your site.
Finally, I would like to offer a small re- source folder of tried and true activities, projects etc. that we have developed since the inception of our Music and Mental Health initiative. Use what you like, adapt, change, or create your own. I hope it will spark some creativity to keep your students centered in your classroom.
