and chants. I have also recorded the songs and chants I’ll be teaching and made the recordings available to my 4K colleagues on our district Google Drive here. Thus, participants can easily practice performing the demonstrated songs and chants after our session and can request I locate and/or record songs and chants as needed.
My goal for this first session is to establish myself and the K-12 music teachers in my district as resources from whom the 4K teachers feel comfortable asking for musical content or guidance. Further, I anticipate that questions will arise to guide the planning for our second session, pos- sibly prompting an early childhood music session every year. Above all, I hope our collaboration will empower my preschool colleagues to infuse their curriculum with music and movement activities.
I would love to know what you are doing to expand music learning and play for the littlest learners in your school system. Please feel free to email me with ideas for future articles or early childhood resources and initiatives you want to share.
