PI 34 Licensing & Mentoring Project

for content-specific meetings or confer- ence attendance? Because of the lifetime licensing, will professional development and further learning in the profession cease outside of districts? Will educators still seek out further training, such as advanced degrees, when there is no real incentive to do so? What impact will the new tiering system have on the profession and how the profession is perceived?

The Mission

As new licensing information comes for- ward and programs continue to shift, we as music educators should continue to ad- vocate for discipline-specific professional development. We should be involved in WMEA and keep informed about changes and furthering our knowledge of our craft. Communication and mentoring will be-

come even more important as we learn more about the impact these changes will have long term. In the meantime, keep informed by checking the DPI licensure blog (https://dpi.wi.gov/tepdl/news) and the WEAC website (http://weac.org).
