CMP Summer Workshop
The 2018 Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance (CMP) Summer Workshop took place on June 25–29 at UW-River Falls. This year’s event in- cluded 43 participants along with 10 staff members, who together explored holistic teaching and learning approaches and mindsets for band, choir, orchestra and classroom music.
CMP is a grass-roots project of passion- ate, skilled educators who work collab- oratively with music teachers to foster student potential. Started in 1977 and

still going strong, CMP promotes an in- novative approach to planning instruction. The rehearsal is seen as a laboratory in the CMP process, one where students are empowered to develop high-level skills while simultaneously deepening their understanding of music, themselves and the world.
