AQE 41 Signal Group - AQE Stand D11

Signal Group, the UK developer and manufacturer of advanced gas analysis and calibration instrumentation, has submitted both portable and fi xed VOC analysers for MCERTS certifi cation, and the company’s stand (D11) at AQE 2022 will feature both instruments.

The 3010 MINIFID rugged, portable, heated FID VOC analyser has been designed to demonstrate compliance by hydrocarbon

emissions measurements from multiple stacks or sites. The S4 SOLAR heated FID VOC analyser is a rack-mounted instrument for continuous monitoring, offering the accuracy and reliability that Signal customers expect, but with the additional benefi ts of a detachable tablet and software for RS232 or Ethernet connectivity.

AQE visitors will also be able to see the new S4 SOLAR XPLORE portable heated FID, and anyone with an interest in QAL2 audits will be able to see the 821s Gas Divider and the NOXGEN NOx converter effi ciency tester.

Visitors will be able to see fi rst-hand, how an innovative detachable tablet makes emissions monitoring easier and safer – putting data where it matters… in your hands!

When monitoring stack emissions there are - apart from other specifi c components - always three core components in focus: SO2

, NOx determine the NOx

and CO. To (NOx

being the combination of NO and NO2 )

concentration in many cases NO2 is reduced to NO via a converter.

NO is then measured either by NDIR, UV or other techniques. Converters are usually simple to operate, but they require space, and the active material is consumed over time – depending on the NO2

of NO and NO2

load of the stack gas. This creates service

and material costs as well as blocking space for additional analysers. Siemens Set CEM CERT is currently being certifi ed to report NOx

to provide the sum total of both measurements as NOx

as an ULTRAMAT 23 measurement calculated in the Set CEM

CERT. By using measurements that are already present, the operation of a converter is unnecessary, and this is refl ected in a substantial reduction in OPEX.

ULTRAMAT 23 has passed the EN15267 test for certifi cation ranges of 50 mg/m³ for CO and NO, which saves costs. The ULTRAMAT 23 is a highly cost effective multi component analyser supporting applications that were not possible before.

provides a detailed account for the site’s GHG footprint outlining source apportionment and emission fl uxes (Kg/hr). Measurement campaigns are versatile and designed accordingly to ensure emission fl uxes are captured correctly and as accurately as possible. Based on the detailed analysis, mitigation solutions are suggested and where agreed are implemented.

Four years of colocation with reference instruments results in South Coast Science’s unique sensor correction algorithm and best-in- class precision.

Because no mandatory product testing exists, it is sometimes diffi cult for customers to verify claims made by manufacturers. However, the achievement of MCERTS certifi cation provides independent verifi cation that the automatic correction process works extremely well, and not only is it effective for PM but works equally well for gas sensor data, but what does MCERTS mean for customers?

The certifi cation process measures the performance of the device, so customers can be confi dent that data output is traceable to UK and European standards. Achieving MCERTS certifi cation provides independent verifi cation of device performance, giving assurance to customers about the data quality they can expect.

Signifi cantly, the onboard correction process means that these devices do not require the use of heated air inlets. This results in low- powered lightweight instruments (Praxis/Urban is only 4kg and Praxis/OPCube 2kg), making them very easy to handle and deploy.
