Flow Level Pressure
New 1201 High Pressure Brass Regulator
Monitoring Oil Flow to Critical Bearings in Heavy Machinery
Titan Enterprises reports how it developed an adapted version of its OG5 fl owmeter for a leading supplier of mobile rock crushers to monitor oil fl ow to the rotating cylinder bearing mechanism at the heart of their system.
Industrial crushers are used in a wide range of materials processing sectors which include aggregates, landscaping, infrastructure and road building, construction and demolition, mining, waste management and recycling.
To ensure reliable operation monitoring of lubricating oil fl ow and pressure to the main drive bearings in crusher units is critical. The specifi cation for the fl owmeter included that it could not impede lubricant fl ow and had to have a low pressure drop even at full fl ow with cold, thick oil. While Titan Enterprises standard OG5 fl owmeter met the fl ow requirements the standard 1-inch diameter fl ow pathway was considered too small as it may restrict lubricant fl ow.
After initial successful proof of concept trials with the standard OG5 fl owmeter, Titan redesigned the aluminium version of the meter to have 1.25-inch diameter connections to reduce the pressure drop at minimum operating temperature and maximum fl ow. In addition, a transparent cover was fi tted to the fl owmeter so that the operator could visually verify oil fl ow. Further customisation allowed the fl owmeter to be plugged directly into the customers wiring loom and the body of the meter was even anodised to match the colour of the crushing machines they were being fi tted to.
SOR Inc. expands its Pressure Regulator product line with the launch of the 1201 High Pressure Regulator.
The SOR 1201 High Pressure Regulator is designed to provide reliable control of the downstream pressure of a gas fl ow system. In many gas fl ow applications, reducing pressure in multiple stages is important to prevent freezing and cavitation issues. The SOR 1201 HP Regulator is ideal for use as a fi rst stage regulator; reducing the pressure that is input to other pressure reducing regulators or fi lters and also removing pressure fl uctuations. With three outlets, the 1201 HP Regulator gives the user the ability to control pneumatic pressure to three other devices. The 1201 HP Regulator provides the option of fi ve different outlet pressure ranges and it is simple to swap in a different control spring if the need to change outlet pressure ranges arises. Additionally, SOR offers repair kits for these regulators that include diaphragms, seat block assemblies, springs, and more.
The maximum supply pressure for the SOR 1201 High Pressure Regulator is 5000 psi. It can operate between -40F to 225F (-40C to 107C). The 1201 can function with air, inert gas, and natural gas. The brass version has four exhaust vent holes in the spring case. More specifi cation information for this regulator can be found in the SOR 1200 Series Pressure Regulator Catalog.
SOR also offers control valves, liquid level controllers, and air fi lter regulators that can be packaged with the 1201 HP Regulator for skid and separator packages. Please contact your local SOR sales representative or inside sales representative for more information on how you can order a complete package of these products.

Compact in design, Titan Enterprises OG5 oval geared fl owmeter is designed to give high performance with a low cost of ownership. Fully IP67 / NEMA 4 compliant, the OG5 fl owmeter is optimised for measuring the fl ow of viscous fl uids at pressures of up to 400 bar and temperatures up to 150°C. With a standard fl ow range from 0.5 to 100 litres / minute on 30Cstk oil the rugged OG5 fl owmeter can routinely achieve outstanding accuracy (0.5%) and repeatability (0.1%).

Ralston Instruments Expanded line of DP Transmitter and Valve Bleeder Screw Adapters
Differential Pressure or DP pressure transmitters are used in almost every process industry to measure the fl ow of gas and liquids. It is important to keep them calibrated and one of the biggest diffi culties people have in calibrating DP pressure transmitters is connecting a presure calibrator and pressure source without removing the transmitter from service. All DP transmitters are mounted to a block and bleed valve or a 3 or 5 valve manifold that allows the operator to equalise, vent and isolate the transmitter from the process. Ralston Instruments has expanded it’s line of DP pressure transmitter adapters to fi t an even larger number of manufacturers’ block and bleed valves and manifolds.
The DP transmitter adapters fi t the following 3 and 5 valve manifolds: Rosemount 2051, 3051 Series DP Pressure Transmitters, Yokogawa EJ series DP Pressure Transmitters, Endress + Hauser Deltabar PMD55 and PMD75 Transmitters, Honeywell Smartline ST700 and ST800 Pressure Transmitters.
Additionally they have also added several bleeder screw adapters for Rosemount, NOSHOK and PGI block and bleed valves that connect pressure transmitters to the process. These adapters thread into the block and bleed valve where the bleeder screw normally goes. They can then be used to pressurise a transmitter for calibration and testing after it has been isolated from the process. The Ralston Instruments bleeder screw adapters fi t the following valves: Rosemount 306 In-line manifold adapters, Rosemount Andersoon Greenwood M25 and M251 Block and Bleed gauge valve adapters, Noshok 600 Series, 700 Series, 2070 Series, 2170 Series Block and bleed valve adapters, Parker PGI V-526 and V-527 Bleeder Screw Gauge Valve adapters.
