Analytical Instrumentation Proposed ASTM International Petroleum Standard

Will Support Diesel and Biodiesel Fuel Quality A proposed ASTM International standard will help characterize the quality of diesel fuels and biodiesel blends. The proposed standard (WK51775) is being developed by the committee on petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants (D02). The proposed standard will be used to separate and determine the content of aromatics, nonaromatics, and fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in middle distillates, including biodiesel blends with up to 20 percent by volume of FAME.

“The knowledge of total content of saturates and aromatics in middle distillates is useful to investigate the effects of petroleum processing on production of various finished fuels,” said ASTM International member Yang Tingting a senior engineer at the SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing in China. Tingting notes that the method described in the standard is time-saving and environmentally friendly.

The proposed method could be used by refinery plants, diesel fuel producers, and analytical laboratories. ASTM welcomes participation in the development of its standards. Become a member at www.astm.org/ JOIN. The next meeting of this committee is December 3-7, 2017, in Houston, Texas, USA.

44014pr@reply-direct.com Gas & LPG Sample Introduction Module for Reliable

and Accurate Trace Level Total Nitrogen / Sulfur / Chlorine Analysis The compact Gas & LPG sample introduction module, GM 7000, is able to connect with the TSHR range of Combustion Elemental Analysers and legacy Thermo Euroglas TNTSTX analysers for a range of pressurised gas and LPG samples. The TSHR GM 7000 module is a fully automated and software controlled gas and LPG sampling and sample introduction module in compliance with ASTM D6667 and D7551 methods for trace level sulfur analysis. The module is provided with fast connectors to easily connect the sample cylinder and can take different sample volumes to fulfill customer needs.

The sample volume will carried towards the combustion analyser for direct analysis of the total sulfur, nitrogen or chlorine content in the Gas or LPG sample. This enables the user within a few minutes, accurate data in compliance with regulatory methods.

The modularity of the TSHR range of Combustion Elemental Analysers supports the feature to switch easily between Gas/LPG applications and liquids or solids samples with minimum method changeover-time of the analyser.

The enhanced range of TSHR Combustion Elemental Analyser solutions will drive customers in QC and routine labs to high productivity and low costs of operation with high accuracy and reliable total sulfur, nitrogen and chlorine data.

Analysers TSHR International has developed a new liquid autoinjector, AI 7000 model, for semi-automatic injection of liquids samples into

the TSHR 7000 series for the analysis of Total Nitrogen, Sulfur and Chlorine in a wide range of liquid hydrocarbon products.

The compact AI 7000 module is very easy to install and operates with a syringe driven mechanism to inject up to 100 ul fully automatic and controlled through Athena software. The AI 7000 supports the use of standard liquids syringes with 25, 50 and 100 ul sample volumes.

This enables customers with a limited sample throughput to analyse within a few minutes, accurate data in compliance with regulatory methods.

The new AI 7000 supports also the feature of the 7000 series to switch easily between Gas/ LPG and liquids samples with minimum down- time of the analyser. In case of future increased sample throughput requirements, the TSHR 7000 series can be upgraded with a 15 or 121 positions liquids autosampler, HR 7015 and HR 7100 models.

The enhanced range of TSHR Combustion Elemental Analyser solutions will drive customers in QC and routine labs to high productivity and low costs of operation with high accuracy and reliable total sulfur, nitrogen and chlorine data.

44517pr@reply-direct.com 44519pr@reply-direct.com Ultra-Low Level Nitrogen Analysis in Aromatic Hydrocarbon Samples

TSHR International developed a new application note for the ultra-low ppb level analysis of Total Nitrogen in benzene samples based on high temperature combustion with chemiluminescence detection in compliance with ASTM D7184 method.

The analysis of a set of benzene samples with the TSHR TN 7000 model instrument provides customers significant savings on analysis time, gasses and less risk of potential contamination issues. The obtained results shows a high precision at these ultra- low levels of nitrogen content in these aromatic hydrocarbon samples.

The advantage of temperature controlled sample introduction and vertical positioned combustion tube with the TN 7000 ensures an excellent performance with ease of use operation.

The used TSHR liquids autosampler, HR 7100 model, with 121 positions for 2 mL vials drives the productivity and repeatability of the data as presented in the application note.
