New Programmable Hot Plate with Milled-Flat Top
Torrey Pines Scientific, Inc has announced its new EchoTherm™ Programmable Digital Hot Plate with milled-flat cast aluminum top.
This new model is ideal for use in precisely heating solids like silicon wafers, electronic chips, displays, adhesives and for doing photo-resists.
With the easy to use EchoTherm™ Model HP40A, programming is done through the front panel membrane switch and full-functioned custom liquid crystal display.
The unit can store 10 programs in memory of as many as 10 steps each where each step is a temperature, temperature ramp rate if wanted, and time. Each program can be made to repeat itself automatically from 1 to 98 times or infinitely.
Heater plates are 8" (203mm) x 8" (203mm) milled- flat cast aluminum. The plate surface can be evenly heated from ambient to 400°C in less than 10 minutes. Plate surface temperature is controlled directly using the PID control loop to 1°C of the target.
Accuracy is 1% of the heater setting over the entire range. Temperature sensing is by platinum RTD built into the heater plate. The units are supplied with temperature calibration certificates traceable to NIST.
Temperature ramping up and down, count down timer with alarm, user settable Auto-Off, and RS232 I/O port are standard.
Various sample probes are available as accessories. The Model HP40A is available in 100, 115, and 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz models. All units are UL, CSA, and CE certified.
Updates Ensure Faster and More Efficient Data Reporting in Laboratories
Artel launched version 3.3 of its Pipette Tracker™ software. Tightly integrated with the Artel PCS® (Pipette Calibration System), Pipette Tracker provides a total management system for quality control of any pipette population. The updated software brings even more convenience to laboratories by proactively notifying quality control managers and laboratory technicians through email when pipettes are due for calibration and/or preventive maintenance. The updated Artel Pipette Tracker software provides more tools to analyse pipette calibration and maintenance records, making it easy to identify poor performance trends early on. The software allows laboratories to set action limits, which will alert users when a pipette is nearing its individual performance specifications, allowing preventive maintenance to be performed before pipette failure occurs.
All calibration data is collected directly from the Artel PCS and stored in secure databases, facilitating easy report generation and compliance with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 11, which defines the criteria under which electronic records and electronic signatures are considered to be trustworthy, reliable and equivalent to paper records. Aside from the usability updates, the Artel Pipette Tracker version 3.3 is also faster and able to manage larger pipette inventories than earlier versions.

New Ultra-Fast Dialyzer™
The new Ultra-Fast DIALYZER System from Harvard Apparatus is compact, easy to use and designed to meet the wide range of applications found in research. The new unit has a double sided, 24mm diameter chamber thus increasing the diameter from 18mm to 24mm. The increased diameter results in a larger surface area for sample exposure and enhanced exchange rates. The Ultra-Fast DIALYZER™ chambers can be used for a wide range of applications including Electro-Dialysis, Electro-Elution, Elution of Proteins and Nucleic Acids from Gels and Electro-Concentration.
The dialyzer comes with a chamber and two caps. Membranes are sold separately. Harvard Apparatus Ultra-Fast DIAYLZERS™ support a broad range of membranes with molecular weight cut offs of 100, 500, 1K, 2K, 5K, 10K, 25K, 50K, 100K and 300K Daltons. The new reusable sample chambers are made of PTFE for high sample recovery. The new design provides larger membrane surface areas for even faster dialysis rates. The units range from 50µl to 1,500µl volume.
