Agilent Technologies Appoints New South East Asia Regional Manager for the Life Sciences Group in Southeast Asia Region
Agilent Technologies have announced the appointment of Dr Sam Mohan as the Southeast Asia Regional Manager for the Life Sciences Group.
Based in Singapore, Dr Mohan will report to Rod Minett, General Manager of South- Asia Pacific and Korea Field Operations, Life Sciences Group, and will be responsible for managing all the life sciences’ sales channels in South East Asia. This comprises building the company’s product strategy, implementation, lifecycle management and
partner integration, combined with overseeing all global brand and communications activities.
Prior to joining Agilent Technologies, Dr Mohan was the Sales Director of Cell Biosciences, responsible for the company’s sales and marketing activities for distributors within the Pacific Rim area. He was also the Sales Manager at Amersham Biosciences and spent seven years managing the Bio-Rad Laboratories’ Life Sciences and Clinical Diagnostics product range.
“Dr Mohan has over 16 years of experience in the biosciences industry and is a world-class and very experienced manager,” said Rod Minett.
“His appointment brings a wealth of talent and experience to Agilent Technologies, which will assist us in developing and growing our business. Over the past year, we have worked hard to ensure we have the right people on the ground and Dr Mohan’s appointment is an integral part of that growth plan,” Minett added.

Cellmid Signs Antibody Humanisation Collaboration Cellmid Ltd has signed a collaboration
agreement with Antitope Ltd for the humanisation of its lead therapeutic monoclonal antibody candidate. The collaboration is expected to deliver a drug candidate, a first in class humanised anti- midkine antibody, using Cellmid’s patented sequence and Antitope’s proprietary EpiScreen™ and Composite Human Antibody™ technologies.
As part of the agreement Antitope will also produce sufficient humanised antibody for preclinical testing using their proprietary high yielding CHO expression system.
Cellmid’s lead will be humanised by Antitope using their proprietary Composite Human Antibody™ technology. Composite Human Antibody™ technology is a proven platform for rapid generation of non-immunogenic, fully humanised candidates, with similar or better binding affinities than the template antibody. Additionally, Antitope’s Composite Human AntibodyTM technology is clear of all the dominant patents in the humanisation space, thus avoiding the need for Cellmid to pay royalties to third parties.

Freeman Technology appoints Asia Dr Ramaswamy, MD, Sotax India
Swiss based Sotax, specialists in providing high quality dissolution testing systems, composite assay and content uniformity workstations and physical tablet testing instruments for pharmaceutical industry throughout the world, recently opened its subsidiary in India as Sotax India Pvt Ltd, with their corporate office in Mumbai.
This move will help to service Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers and R&D centres in a better way.
Initially Sotax India will focus two hundred plus pharma manufacturing and R&D locations with their systems in India. Sotax India will also initiate workshops and seminars as value addition to QA, QC, manufacturing and R&D department people in Indian pharmaceutical industry.
Sotax has appointed Dr L Ramaswamy as the Managing Director of their Indian subsidiary. Dr Ramaswamy, with his three decades of Indian pharmaceutical industry experience, has charted out a road map for Sotax India for next five years.

Distributors for FT4 Powder Rheometer Powder characterisation company Freeman Technology is significantly expanding its activities in Asia with the appointment of distribution partners in the region who will sell and support the company’s FT4 Powder Rheometer. DKSH, an established organisation which operates in 35 countries and has a particular focus on Asia, will be Freeman Technology’s distribution partner in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan. In India Freeman Technology will partner with Aimil Ltd, a highly respected distributor of analytical instrumentation, which serves the Indian market via 10 offices around the country and some 50 channel partners.

Graffinity Enters into Drug Discovery
Collaboration with Shionogi Graffinity Pharmaceuticals GmbH, a member of the NovAliX group of companies, have announced that it has entered into a research collaboration with Osaka, Japan based Shionogi & Co, Ltd Under the terms of the agreement, Graffinity will receive technology access fees and payments for follow-up chemistry for the
generation of various, novel small molecule hits against a key drug target. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Mathias Woker, Chief Business Officer of Graffinity, remarked:, ”We are pleased that Shionogi has chosen to collaborate with us to apply our fragment based screening platform to one of Shionogi’s high
priority discovery programs. This marks our first collaboration with a leading Japanese pharmaceutical company. Our proprietary assay/label-free SPR primary screen of 24,000 fragments and 87,000 leadlike molecules is often crucial in addressing drug targets that are difficult to screen with other technologies.”
