Pittcon is the world’s largest annual conference and exposition for laboratory science and is expected to attract over 15,000 attendees from industry, academia and government from 90 countries worldwide. Pittcon 2018 will offer the latest technology and instrumentation from more than 800 exhibitors, a diverse Technical Program of over 2,000 abstracts to technical presentations, over 100 Short Courses to enhance your educational experience, and networking sessions that provide the chance to exchange innovative ideas with scientists from around the world.

The 2018 topic of the 29th annual Waters symposium is ‘Ambient Ionization Mass Spectrometry for Imaging and Analysis’. This prestigious discussion will recognise the history, science, and applications of the technologies associated with ambient ionisation mass spectrometry for imaging and analysis. This presentation will trace its original developments in the Purdue University laboratories of Professor R. Graham Cooks to the initial commercialisation by Prosolia, Inc to the most recent applications in a wide array of fields from nanotechnology to homeland security to medical operating rooms.

The outstanding panel of speakers who will be presenting at the Pittcon 2018 Waters Symposium includes: Graham Cooks, Purdue University; Dr Justin Wiseman, Prosolia, Inc; Pieter Dorrestein, University of California; Thalappil Pradeep, IIT Madras; Richard N. Zare, Stanford University.

This informative session will take place during Pittcon on Monday 26th March, 2018, at 1:30 pm. Details and bios of the speakers can be found at pittcon.org.

The Wallace H. Coulter lecture at Pittcon 2018 will be delivered by Jeremy Nicholson (pictured left), Head of the Department of Surgery and Cancer and Director of the MRC-NIHR National Phenome Centre Faculty of Medicine.

His lecture, ‘Analytical Science in Precision Medicine: Facing the Challenges of the 21st Century Healthcare’, will take place during Pittcon 2018 on Monday 26 February at 4:30 pm, with a complimentary mixer and poster session immediately following.

Nicholson’s major research focus is on the development of diagnostic and prognostic molecular phenotyping and computational technologies as applied to problems in personalised healthcare, microbiome-host metabolic signalling, metabolic diseases and cancer.

The Plenary Lecture, ‘Optical Microscopy: The Resolution Revolution’, presented by Nobel Laureate Dr Stefan Hell, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen and Director at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, has been added to this year’s program.

This exciting lecture will take place in the Chapin Theater on Tuesday 27 February at 5:00 pm.

The 2015 Short Courses will run from 24th February -1st March. With over 100 from which to choose from and offered at beginner and intermediate levels, these range from one-half day up to two-days. There are a wide variety of classes covering topics are covering relevant analytical topics in, environmental, life science, pharmaceutical to name a few. Courses for broad-based application and general lab functions include lab management, quality control, technical writing, statistics, data analysis and lab safety.

This year, there are more than 20 new courses added to the schedule covering topics such as sample preparation, advanced techniques in HPLC, LIMS, scientific writing, and liquid handling, and many more.

See a complete list of all short courses either by date or category with descriptions at www.pittcon.org The topics for Conferee Networking during Pittcon 2018 have recently been announced.

The 2017 exposition consisted of 787 exhibitors from 37 countries occupying 1,404 booths displaying the latest innovations in instrumentation and technology used in laboratory science.
