Chromatography 15 Fully Automated Sample Clean-up System for PCB and Dioxin Analysis Launched
With DEXTech 16, LCTech launches the fi rst fully automated sample clean-up system for PCB and dioxin analysis. DEXTech 16 processes fully automated and unattended 16 samples within one sequence around the clock, even at the weekends. The specialist for automated sample preparation, LCTech GmbH, thus sets a new and unique standard with the fi rst complete automation for the clean-up of food, feed, environmental, and biological samples in the PCB and dioxin analysis. All 16 samples are quantitatively loaded one after the other via an autosampler and afterwards transferred onto the 3-column setup of the system via the sample loop. The sample clean-up is based on the extensive expertise gained on the DEXTech product family using an acidic silica gel column, an aluminium oxide column, and a carbon column.
Default methods that are compliant to the EPA method and European regulations are stored in the system. However, an individual parameterisation is also possible. Existing, already evaluated customer methods on the systems DEXTech Plus and DEXTech Pure can be transferred to the fully automated system DEXTech 16.
The system can be prepared to start a sequence within only 30 minutes. The user just have to place the samples into the system, chose or modify a stored method, and insert the ready-to-use columns into the column carousel. Having that done, DEXTech 16 processes 16 samples one after the other and separates PCBs and dioxins in one fraction each so that they can subsequently be measured in one GC-MS run each.
Due to design and automated rinsing steps, cross-contamination is reliably avoided as proven by previous DEXTech systems.
A sophisticated and easy to handle software builds the core of the system and offers a comfortable operation via touch screen to the user including advantages like intelligent solvent management, permanent overview of process status, or report generation.
Further advantages are various safety features like controlled and monitored robotic operations, overpressure detection with ‘non-stop policy’, waste sensor, or password protected software.

Hassle-free Gas Management in Laboratories
ADVERTORIAL
Ellutia opens GC Excellence Academy in Cambridgeshire
Looking to Improve Your GC Knowledge
Gas generators are nowadays largely recommended as a valid and safer alternative to cylinders, especially into small buildings. Furthermore, the use of a gas generator relieves lab personnel from frequent cylinders replacement, workfl ow interruptions and waste of material.
ErreDue has designed and manufactured professional solutions for on site gas generation in Italy for over 20 years. The experience and reliability gained throughout these years are now at the service of laboratories, for any kind of need: from standard generators for GC-FID, ICP, HPLC, to customised solutions and centralised plants.
ErreDue produces a complete range of laboratory gas generators: Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Pure and Zero air. All ErreDue gas generators can be easily managed through the graphic interface of the touchscreen display, or remotely through a LAN connected computer or through the free Android Application.
The product line now includes also a rack version of the Mars Hydrogen generator, perfect for the applications where space optimisation is critical.
ErreDue will present its renewed line of laboratory gas generators at Pittcon 2018, booth #1760.

British gas chromatography supplier, Ellutia, has opened a dedicated training centre at its new state-of-the-art facility in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The GC Excellence Academy will host training courses by RSC-approved independent trainer, Anthias Consulting, as well as Ellutia-led sessions by the company’s technical experts.
Kicking off the Academy’s programme, Anthias Consulting will be delivering its 1 day course ‘The absolute basics of GC and GC-MS’ and its more involved ‘5 day complete GC and GC-MS training’ in January 2018. Ellutia’s experts will offer a range of sessions, some of which will be bespoke for customers and others that will cover key application areas including: brewing, cannabis testing, food safety, petrochemical, and environmental analysis. Courses will also be offered on cutting edge technologies such as Ultra-Fast GC and MAX GC-FTIR.
Andrew James, Ellutia’s Marketing Director commented: “Mastering the use of modern gas chromatography instruments and maximising their potential is a key objective for scientists, students and researchers alike. Our deep heritage and expertise in GC techniques and our incredibly close relationships with customers mean that we place as much emphasis on equipping GC users with the insight they need, as we do on developing great products. We are looking forward to offering a range of courses at our new GC Excellence Academy to provide insights and training to customers, students and other scientists with the goal of advancing GC knowledge and expanding the use of this highly versatile technique.”
