And the beat goes on . . . After a year of scaled back or canceled events, the music is coming back to
Yorkville, beginning on May 27 in the downtown and at the Riverfront with a brand new annual event called Margarita Mayo. Mariachi bands will be playing traditional Mexican music from 5 to 9 p.m.
Dancing is encouraged and margaritas will be available. A month later, on Friday and Saturday, June 25 and 26, Yorkville’s
Riverfront will once again be the site of the Summer Solstice Indie Music Festival hosted by Rogue Barrister Productions, Te Law Office Pub & Music Hall and the City of Yorkville. Last year, the annual event had been geared down to several bands playing music at the rear of Te Law Office Pub while a small audience sat at socially distanced tables in the back alley area. As of the end of April, this year’s line-up for the Festival includes the

of Rogue Barrister Productions and owner of Te Law Office Pub. “We’ll be running it pretty much the same way as in the past, generally providing high-quality music. We give people the opportunity to congregate in a pretty informal setting.” Rosati’s Pizzeria & Pub and Rosie’s Sweet Treats will once again be among the vendors providing food, and brewed drinks will be available at the Solstice. Boyd said the last year has been hard, but he thinks Kendall County has been great throughout the whole pandemic. “Everyone’s worked together. Businesses are opening up, which
is good. People are excited to get outside and do stuff again. Tis year things should be good. It’s moving in the right direction. It’s a blessing for everyone.” In addition to the music festival, the Solstice will feature, in
