“Traditional Mexican food with a modern spin.” Tat’s how Carlos Arechiga describes the menu he is offering at his new restaurant, Hacienda Real - Flavors of Mexico.
Carlos says the inspiration for many of the dishes served at Hacienda Real come from recipes originating in Jalisco, a costal state in Mexico, from which he and his family emigrated in 2003. “We have a lot of seafood on the
menu,” he says, “Grilled octopus, shrimp, because Jalisco is located near the ocean. We grab our inspiration from Jalisco.” He added that Hacienda Real has
a rotating menu, which gives them the opportunity to introduce new items depending on the season or theme they are going for. Opened on June 1, 2020,

food. Because we live in Yorkville we wanted to do something special.” In addition to the unique menu and outside patio eating area, the restaurant is notable for the three black stallion scuptures that grace the southeast corner of its building. “Obviously our food is no. 1, but I wanted to add an additional, artistic element to the restaurant, one that is additionally captivating,”
Carlos said. “Tey are made out of recycled metal, horseshoes welded together by an artist in Mexico.” His restaurants, he says, are a family affair - one that includes his parents,

Clemente and Carmen Arechiga, and four siblings: Paul, Oswaldo, Abraham and Audel. So far, even with the pandemic,
things have been going well. “Te response has been great,” Carlos said. “It’s the no.1 motivating factor for us. We keep receiving such postive feedback.”
