Breathe Salt Terapy 2611 North Bridge St., Yorkville

Breathesalttherapy.net Lisa Prather is a mom who has worked in the service

industry for more than 30 years and who, nine years ago, suddenly went into kidney failure. “It literally came out of nowhere,” she recalls. “I also battle with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, chronic bad allergies, and a little bit of asthma.” Her health issues led her to seek a more holistic approach to health than a heavy drug regiman, she says. “I started with a Yoga studio,” she continued. “Once

you start looking into things, you discover different healing modalities.” One of those new modalities -- salt thearpy -- was

recommended to her two years ago, but required a 45-minute drive. After trying it, on the drive home, she asked herself why she couldn’t bring this therapy to her own community? “It grew from there,” she says. Salt therapy, Lisa explains, came from positive health

results noticed among salt miners at Polish salt mines in the early 1800s. Miners had few breathing problems and were

sick less often than other miners. But it wasn’t until the 1970s, Lisa says, that a halo generator that crushes up the salt and disperses it into the air in a vapor was developed. At Breathe Salt Terapy Lisa will offer two rooms where people can sit apart and breathe in disbursed salt. “Its anti viral, anti

microbrobic,” she says. “It travels into the airways and helps to loosen up anything that might be clogging your air tract. It is super beneficial to people with cystic fibrosis. It’s wonderful for the skin. It helps with inflammation, bad acne.” She also will be offering floatation in a tank filled with six inches of salted water, infrared saunas, massages and facials, and more. “I grew up in a small town, and Yorkville reminds me

of it,” she says. “I really love this area. Tis is a really great community that I can bring this to.”
