Pulp Paper & Logistics

COMMENT W

elcome to the first issue of Pulp Paper & Logistics for 2021. As we all struggle to cope with the unrelenting impact of Covid-19, the production of paper, board and tissue continues

at pace to meet demand. Suppliers to our industry are striving to improve the

production process with the adoption of more sophisticated automation, process control, energy savings and the timely delivery of finished product to customers. With opportunities for travel still limited, technology for remote commissioning and maintenance is the key to getting the job done.

It’s also good to see the number of grocery brands that are

replacing secondary plastic packaging with recyclable and sustainable cardboard. Read more about this inside.

More good news is that the number of readers of Pulp Paper & Logistics who have pre-registered to receive the magazine have topped the 20,000 mark.

It was also interesting to note that some 97 per cent of those

who registered opted for the full issue PDF version by email while they wait for the printed issue. And as we aim to present more industry news in every issue in 2021 it is reassuring to see that suppliers to the pulp and paper making industry regard Pulp Paper & Logistics as a valuable medium for advertising. So we urge all readers to support all those who support us.

As industry trade shows and conferences are being cancelled

and rescheduled due to the pandemic, their organisers are turning to virtual events so that the pulp and paper industry can keep in touch with developments.

So in the next issue for March-April we will be covering a

wider range of sectors: machine clothing (including rolls, wires and felts); pumps, valves and controls; and mill safety including fire prevention and dust control. Deadline for submitting material is 26 February and for news on 12 March.
