Tissue technologies under a single roof
Tissue specialists in the Körber Group now offer unique portfolio under a common brand. PPL reports W
ith the strategic aim of becoming the world’s most advanced and
complete supplier of technologies dedicated to tissue, the equipment brands Fabio Perini, Casmatic and MTC have been brought under one name: Körber. Now the Körber Group’s business
area for tissue offers a range of systems for the converting and packaging of toilet rolls, kitchen towels, and folded products. Another recent move was to hold a virtual open house at Körber’s headquarters at Lucca in Italy to launch Pivot Solutions, a centre of excellence for the tissue business, and the new Constellation S6 Pilot Line featuring the latest advanced technologies. Oswaldo Cruz Junior, chief
executive of Körber Tissue, explains the background to these initiatives: “Over the past few years, the tissue industry has been dealing with unprecedented pressure and challenges. Pulp price volatility, fierce competition
across global markets, and the need for stronger differentiation are just the beginning. “Combined with an increasing
strive for sustainability and the difficulty in recruiting skilled operators adds to the demanding market environment as producers also aim at enhancing their overall operational efficiency. “It’s tougher than ever for our
customers to run their operations in a profitable and sustainable way. “Fabio Perini and Casmatic
have been the reference points for quality and innovation in converting and packaging in tissue for more than 50 years, while MTC is a world leader in the development, production, and marketing of machines for folded products. Today we unify, underline and strengthen this triple capability under a single brand: Körber. “The success of our customers has always been at the centre of our innovations in technology,” continues Cruz. “We support them

with outstanding solutions, an active approach towards market challenges and an unmatched service portfolio and presence around the globe. “These tangible benefits for our
regional and global customers can lead to more benefits as we combine the competencies of all our companies even more effectively than in the past. So, the new joint brand is a logical step in bringing this strong message to the market.” Körber’s tissue business area
provides advanced, automated and easy-to-use integrated solutions, key resources for increasing efficiency via its global expert team that supports customers globally and locally. Cruz concludes: “This step

represents an important opportunity for our customers too as we will be able to meet the most challenging needs for speed, choice and technologically advanced solutions, relying not only on the integrated offerings
of the companies of the Körber Business Area Tissue. We can also draw from the technology expertise of around 10,000 employees of the Körber Group.” The uncertainty of the cost of pulp, the high competitiveness of the market, the upheavals created by the current pandemic open up new challenges to tissue producers and transformers who need to anticipate competition with distinctive products, in short time frames while preserving margins. To help manufacturers in this challenge, Körber has decided to create Pivot Solutions, the new centre of excellence for the tissue business that combines all its skills in converting, the deep knowledge of embossing solutions of Engraving Solutions and Roll- Tec, combined with the ability to analyse machine data and the quality of the products of the Pivot laboratories. The goal is to support
customers in the development of new products, roll and folded, drastically reducing time-to- market and investment risk with a turnkey solution. Customer product innovation manager Dario Giannini explains: “Today Körber is able to support companies in the development of new products and in the improvement of existing ones, without necessarily interrupting their production lines. “With Pivot Solutions our
customers will be able to test new prototypes or optimise the characteristics of existing products through the production of small
