Corfe Mullen Town Council

As we move forward through the year, Council has been looking ahead at progressing projects and improvements across our community.

Council has consulted with the Carnival Committee and has recognised the tremendous success and popularity of last year’s Christmas Tree at the Windgreen Roundabout. To this end Council has agreed in principal to fund a living, permanent tree at the same site, as part of a commitment to tree planting across Corfe Mullen and especially as part of our 75th VE Day commemorations. Permission has been granted for the Beavers to plant trees at the Recreation Ground and trees are being provided to the Corfe Mullen Royal British Legion, Henbury View First School, Rushcombe First School, Lockyer’s Middle School as well as the Council itself, to mark this commemorative year.

Council is committed to and has budgeted for improved access to our core amenities by improving dropped kerbs, initially in arterial roads to those amenities and in subsequent years, including roads across Corfe Mullen.

We are installing a further bus shelter, which will be a welcome addition to the ones already installed.

Earlier in the year I spoke about the Henbury play area upgrade and this should have finished in March.

As plans for our joint VE Day 75 celebrations with Wimborne progress, I would like to make a further request for anyone who has images of Corfe Mullen in the war years, or of family members who fought in WWII, to share them with us via the office in Towers Way. We are hoping to make copies of those images and display them across the community over the period of VE Day, through VJ Day and the commemorative month of November. All images should be taken to the office where they will be safely stored, copied and returned to their owners. This is a great opportunity to share memories with younger generations and stage a meaningful display to the memory of those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Council is taking advice on the COVID-19 virus from all appropriate bodies and planning for all scenarios.

Corfe Mullen Win on Waste Can you help us once a month?

Can you spare 2-3 hours once a month on a Saturday morning to help us at Corfe Mullen Win on Waste? Our community recycling sessions held at Corfe Mullen Library are extremely popular, so we need two or three extra pairs of hands to help us deal with donations. Also we’d love to hear from anyone with a van who would be prepared to take the donations away afterwards (around 50 carrier bags) and drop off locally.
