Local author opens refurbished school library

Following extensive building development work over the summer of 2019, Broadstone First School celebrated the opening of its new library on Tuesday

25 February with a visit from local childrens author Helga Hopkins.

Swiss born Helga (pictured centre), who now lives in Dorset, read one of her books from her successful Captain Blownaparte series to the whole school and then cut the ribbon to open the extended and refurbished library. The children and parents at Broadstone First School also then had an opportunity to meet the author and have their books signed by her.

The school has had a brand new Early Years classroom area built in addition to the extended library, which has given the very youngest members of the school a modern and bright environment to further enhance their learning experience.

Head of School, Rebecca Wood (pictured left) commented: “It is a pleasure to celebrate the

opening of our new library with Helga and our learners, especially just ahead of World Book Day. We are so excited to have a new dedicated area where children will be able to go and foster their love and enjoyment of reading.”
