Dorset Council report
May I fi rst of all apologise for having to postpone my scam and fraud awareness session on 11 March. Unfortunately I was visiting Cyprus that week and my fl ight back to the UK, originally intended for the evening of 10 March was delayed by one day!
The good news is that the session is now to take place on Saturday 4 April from 10.30am- 12pm at Corfe Mullen library. This is intended to be a ‘drop in’ event to help people learn more about keeping safe from scams and fraud. The literature available during the session will help you understand more about what constitutes fraud and scams. It will also help you fi nd out how you can help to protect yourself from fraud and learn what to do if you become a victim of fraud.
Sadly I’ve met a few people who are confi dent that they will never be taken in by a fraudster or
scammer. Really?! Unfortunately I have also met several victims who have fallen for quite cunning frauds and scams. These include pension scams, identity theft, loan scams, bogus council tax refund schemes, investment scams and even lottery scams. So why not come along to the session and improve your understanding of how not to be taken in by fraudsters and scammers?
