The Pioneer View Dear Friends,
Hope is at the very core of the Growing Compassionate Community’s vison. We seek in all our activities and engagements with other communities to grow hope. I want to spell out our vision of hope within the Growing Compassionate Communities’ charity.
H is for hospitality. In the communities in which we serve, we seek to offer a form of radical hospitality in terms of different activities – doorways back into the community for those on the margins of our communities. As I travel around communities, I see so much loneliness in communities we serve. I believe it’s a hidden disease and needs treating. By offering radical hospitality in communities it can help alleviate the pain of loneliness.
O is for opportunity. We need to seize the day and make the difference in the lives of individuals and communities. As starfi sh are washed up by the storms of life onto the beach, we need to grasp the opportunity to throw them back into the sea and make a difference.
P is for passionate. Passion is the fuel in the tank. It is what drives us to offer radical hospitality and grasp the opportunity to make a difference.
E is for encouragement. We all need encouragement in our journey. I know I need it as a leader. What encourages me more than anything else is growing hopeful communities and making a difference and witnessing the fruit of our labours.
On 7th March at St Nicholas Church the Growing Compassionate Communities charity is leading and hosting a conference titled “Growing Hope in our communities.” It’s key that we seek to grow hope where hope is not. Hope is that we can make differences. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.
