Ventnor Botanic Garden also dates from the Victorian era, when it helped to heal the patients of the hospital that stood here. Queen Victoria opened the Palm Garden, and there are very rare and special plants among the garden’s collection.


Nestled beneath the Undercliff, this 22-acre garden will host Wellbeing Month in January, with a complete timetable of wellbeing activities and classes presented by their experienced and passionate teachers.

Well rested at The Royal


Health-seeking Victorians would have stayed at the Royal Hotel when they visited Ventnor; even Queen Victoria would ride over to take tea. And the Isle of Wight’s Premier four-star luxury hotel has unveiled new plans for Royal Wellbeing experiences starting in January 2020.


The Well Rested Experience from January 24th to 27th will be an opportunity to take your mind, body


‘Well Rested, Mindful Mornings’ include sunrise stretch and breath sessions, mindfulness and meditation as well as a swim in the steaming outdoor pool.


Guests are also welcomed on a mindful walk amongst Ventnor’s Botanic Gardens for a health talk with experienced botanist, Claire Hudson. Afternoon relaxation options include in-room massages and holistic treatments, life coaching, deep healing relaxation or mindful coastal walks before ‘Deep Sleep Slow Down Yin Yoga’ sessions as a final unwind. The weekend closes with a sound bath and Yoga Nidra session, taking guests on a journey of deep relaxation, healing and self-discovery.


Royal Wellbeing guests will receive welcome packages which include locally sourced fruit baskets and organic chocolates, Tea Bird blended teas, hand-blended aromatherapy bath salts and organics from Island botanical skincare brand Duxmore Botanics.


Guests will be treated to a bespoke Royal Wellbeing Breakfast, light lunch and gourmet dinner curated by Head Chef, Jon-Paul Charlo. Jon will be working with local food producers on the Island, including Living Larder, who are passionate about fresh produce and committed to healthy, sustainable, environmentally friendly farming.
