Plant-based options

Research suggests that changing our food production systems and moving towards a largely plant-based diet is the only sustainable way to continue feeding a growing global population and help combat climate change. It’s certainly something worth thinking about and doesn’t mean you need to give up meat altogether

Plant-based food has come a long way in recent years and shouldn’t mean a compromised or less flavourful meal . This type of diet also has massive health benefits, being low in saturated fat, cholesterol-free, rich in fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Eateries across the Island are coming up with exciting vegan or vegetarian treats that sometimes even mimic the taste of meat, to ease customers into a transition. Next time you eat out, consider the plant- based option – you may never go back!

Beetroot and chocolate cake with coconut sorbet At The Royal, this must- try dessert provides an interesting and seasonal twist to the classic chocolate cake. Although it uses the finest fresh beetroot from Living Larder, you won’t pick up that taste. Instead this root vegetable serves to create to create a moist, sweet and del icious cake. Af ter juicing the beetroot, chef Jon-Paul Charlo combines the lef tover pulp with the best Valrhona dark chocolate. It’s served with coconut sorbet and decorated with candied beetroot, to provide a divine new addition to The Royal’s winter menu.
