For a truly original cake tailored to the theme of your wedding, go to Cara at Gladys May Cakery. Her stunningly beautiful cakes can be decorated in any style you desire and there are dozens of flavours and colours to choose from

C

ara graduated from Le Cordon Bleu London in 2012, with a superior Patisserie diploma and a certificate in cake

decorating. After working in the industry as a pastry chef for several years, she decided to follow her passion for baking and started her own bakery in January 2017.

Named after her grandmother, Gladys May, Cara’s Cakery specialises in fondant, sugarpaste and buttercream and she hand crafts every element of her cakes, making each one special and original.

Gladys May Cakery is based in Marlborough Road, Ryde, on the Isle of Wight, where next to her house Cara has a purpose-built studio for her cakes, which has a 5* food hygiene rating.

Cara made a six-tier cake for her own wedding to Dan in October 2018, but three to four-tier cakes are more usual. A new mum to Bobby, she now juggles her cake making with his needs.

“I usually encourage people to email me pictures of cakes they’ve seen so that I can design a cake and give a quote. Then we have a cake tasting and take it from there,” explains Cara.

Contact Cara on 07870 800323 or at info@gladysmaycakery.co.uk for an initial consultation.

A Touch of Magic

agic can add a real wow factor to your wedding and Luke Lamont is your man for

sophisticated close-up magic. As Luke moves amongst your guests they’ll be thrilled by his skill and dazzling sleight of hand and entertained by Luke’s engaging delivery, characterised by his comedic charm.

Weddings often have lulls, but these can be filled by Luke moving from group to group entertaining as he goes. Perhaps whilst guests are waiting for the bride and groom to appear, during periods when photographs are being taken or when guests are waiting for courses of their meal.

Luke is a very experienced wedding magician who returned

to the Island three years ago after a career that has taken him to London, and as far as the Edinburgh Fringe. Born and raised on the Island, Luke has been doing magic since he was eight years old and, at ten, he joined the youth club of the Magic Circle where he met and worked with Paul Daniels.

If you want something a little more ambitious for your wedding, Luke and his partner as “The Oddfellas” could put on a humorous magic show that includes fire eating, juggling, stilt walking and even lying on a bed of nails.

Contact Luke for a chat to explore the magic that would fit your wedding on 07961 825013 or hello@lukelamont.com
