CREATE A LASTING MEMORY WITH THE
MOUNTBATTEN MEMORY TREE
The memories of your loved one can live on by dedicating a leaf on Mountbatten’s Memory Tree
A
t the heart of Mountbatten Hospice, the Mountbatten Memory tree covers the walls at the entrance to the Chapel and is a beautiful
and meaningful way to pay tribute to the memory of those you hold dear.
Each colourful enamel leaf on the tree carries a bespoke inscription dedicated to a loved one as a wonderful tribute to their memory.
The tree lives at the entrance to the Chapel - a tranquil place which is available to patients, families, visitors, and staff for quiet thought, meditation, prayer or conversation. In contrast, outside the Chapel is alive with the daily comings and goings of the hospice, with the tree in its midst, proudly bearing the leaves and memories of those who live on in our hearts. Each section of your loved one's leaf (top and bottom) will be printed with an inscription of your
choosing - your message of love and lasting tribute.
Every leaf that is placed on the memory tree helps Mountbatten to grow. Not only will your leaf serve as a lasting tribute to your loved one; it will also help other families to receive the care and support they need when they need it most. By dedicating a leaf on the memory tree, you will help take away the worry for families caring for a dying loved one, allowing them to focus on making the very best of the time they have left.
The story of the tree
The Mountbatten Memory Tree was created by local Isle of Wight artist, Lisa Traxler, and produced by Isle of Wight company A.J.Wells - well-known for their ongoing design and production of the London underground signs.
The vision was to create a tree that was unique to both Mountbatten and to the Isle of Wight, representing the hospice values which include love, care, curiosity, community, and kindness. The shaped enamel and steel design of the tree is a contemporary take on a more traditional memory tree.
The tree is a symbol of strength, flexibility, and immortality.
