French Franks Warehouse
There’s nothing like a warming breakfast to start the day on a chi l ly winter morning, and a full English is just one of the many tasty offerings at French Franks Warehouse Café and Central Bakery at St Cross Business Park in Newport. This wel l-established Island brand opened its cool, industrial style café last year in addition to the Newport town centre, Ryde and Cowes locations
O
wner Mark Horton explains, “Our Newport café had been operating beyond its capacity and scope for some years. We were also
noticing people working outside the town centre were becoming less able or willing to come into town, largely due to increased parking charges and restrictions which have really affected Newport’s vibrancy. We decided to go to them instead by opening this out of town warehouse.”
With over 5000 employees working within 1km of the St Cross site, the warehouse is perfect for business lunches, informal meetings, working away from the office or just taking a break. The site offers high speed broadband, USB power and parking, and as word spreads it’s becoming popular with passers-by too. Backing onto St Marys Hospital, it can be found just a short detour from the roundabout.
As well as providing the space for a central bakery, to increase production of their delicious homemade cakes, the new premises has also allowed French Franks to scale up other operations.
Mark adds, “We supply sandwich platter lunches and buffets to a wide range of local companies and organisations, which are always really in demand. St Cross provides a more central base and extra room for our corporate catering.”
Great food and coffee have always been at the heart of French Franks’ success, and warehouse customers can enjoy the same tempting choice of freshly made sandwich fillings, soups, salads, jacket potatoes, lots of local produce and expertly prepared Illy coffee. In addition, the new warehouse serves both traditional cooked breakfasts and tasty lighter options, such as Eggs Royale, Eggs Benedict and avocado smash with poached eggs. It’s becoming an increasingly popular, easy breakfast destination throughout the week, and also on Saturday mornings, when the businesses on the estate are quieter.
The warehouse is open from 08:00- 15:30 Monday to Friday, and 08:00- 14:30 on Saturdays.
