AROUND TOWN

Decade in Review:

a look back at some of our most memorable stories of the 2010s

Before we jump head-first into the roaring twenties, let’s take a step back to appreciate some of the highlights of the last decade and the fantastic stories we have been able to share with our readers.

In every edition, we start the magazine with Aroundtown Meets – giving recognition to people from South Yorkshire who have done good deeds, had great jobs or gained outstanding achievements. These unsung heroes are proof that our area is brimming with gifted and gallant folk and we are humbled they’ve allowed us to retell their life journeys in our own special way. From authors and artists to bakers and

gardeners, a priest and even an organist, we have met a whole host of people who have had an impact on South Yorkshire in one way or another. We’ve interviewed teenagers starting their sporting dreams to our oldest Aroundtown Meets star, Stan Shaw, who still makes penknives down at his Kelham Island workshop well into his 90s. Here are just some of the people we hope you have enjoyed reading about over the years.
