YOU WILL NEED • A4 thick black card • A4 embossed pearl cream card • Gold mirror board • Peel off border and sentiments • Strong glue or tape • Gold chain and pliers • Handbag template and die pack All of the above are available from Craft Corner & The Bears Den
METHOD
Using your template and thick black card cut two bag shapes (Template 1).
Cut 1 handbag front (Template 2) from embossed pearl cream card. Stick to handbag front using strong tape or glue. Edge with a piece of gold mirror board 5 1/2” x 3/8”. Cut two strips of black card 6.5” long x 3” wide join together to make a 13” gusset. Measure 1/2” in from each side and score.
Starting about 2.5” down from each side snip every 1/2” of the border to create tabs; this will allow you to ease the gusset around the curved edges at the bottom. Lie your bag front face down on your mat and, starting at the upper right-hand side, gradually stick your tabs in place making sure the edges are aligned.
*Using strong glue that dries quickly or strong tape will help at
this stage. Check all your edges are neat before repeating with the bag back. Trim off any excess. Cut a strip of black card 10” x 1/2” run through your fingers until you have a nice curved shape then attach to the inside of your bag gusset.
Make a tassel by cutting a piece of cream card 3” x 1/2” and snipping along the length leaving about 1/4”. Roll up and glue in place. Finish with a small piece of gold mirror board on the top. To attach the tassel carefully use your pliers to remove one link from your chain open to a U shape and glue into the top of the tassel. Let dry then attach the chain to the link and around the handle of the bag. Decorate with a gold border peel off at the top and a sentiment. Place die cut circles and a gem in the middle of the gold stip. Fill with your chosen Thank You gift for a friend or teacher. Your Thank You Gift Handbag is now complete.
