A Broadstone project for older people, carers and those with memory loss
I have wanted to start tea dances in Broadstone for a long time. Dancing is such a great activity for socialising and for exercise and an afternoon event has many attractions, particularly in winter time.
My ambition was fulfilled in summer 2019 when the first Community Tea Dance was launched. Numbers attending have steadily built up, with some keen ballroom dancers; others
join in line dances and less formal dances and some come to watch and sing along. Older people participate, but all age groups are represented. People come with friends or come by themselves and make friends, delicious cakes are provided and above all the afternoon is fun!
The first tea dance in 2020 is on Friday 31 January, followed by one on 28 February. They are held from 2-4pm, at Broadstone War Memorial Hall, £5 per person and carers are paid for by the Leonardo Trust. The whole event is sponsored by Lesley Shand. Why not come along?
Our other activities, listed below, will continue in 2020 and include support for those with memory loss.
Diary Of Events: Every Monday:
Reading and Listening Group Broadstone Library, 11am to 12noon.
Every 3rd Thursday in the month: Advice Surgery Broadstone Library, 10-12noon.
Every 2nd Friday in the month: Drop In for tea, chat and activities Broadstone Methodist Church, 2.15pm to 4pm.
Tea Dance for the whole community Friday 31 January, Broadstone War Memorial Hall, 2-4pm. £5 per person, including tea and delicious cakes. Call 01202 658833 to book places.
Every 4th Friday in the month: Carpet Bowls Corfe Mullen Village Hall, 2-4pm.
