News Lord Mayor’s Show highlights best of British farming

armers from the region took to the streets of London last month to showcase the best of British agriculture during the Lord Mayor’s Show.
The annual event – held on Sat-
urday 9 November – is seen as a way to highlight the contribution of farming in front of thousands of Londoners. Thanks to the Wor- shipful Company of Farmers, this year’s procession included a Mas- sey Ferguson MF 8740S tractor. Worshipful Company of Farm- ers master David Bolton said: “The Lord Mayor’s Show is a brilliant way to celebrate all that is good about many British industries and we’re proud to represent farming to the thousands who attend. “British agriculture plays a vital part in not only feeding the nation, but also in protecting the environment. In the year to come the Worshipful Company of Farmers will focus on promoting an industry that is ever more ef- ficient in producing food while en-

hancing the countryside.” NFU vice president and Hert- fordshire farmer Stuart Roberts said it was more important than ever that the general public were behind the nation’s food produc-
ers. “The parade provides us with a perfect platform to share our en- thusiasm for food and farming,” he said. Red Tractor vice chairman and Suffolk farmer Andrew Blenkiron
said the organisation was proud to be part the procession. “At Red Tractor we passionately believe that everyone should be able to buy quality food they can trust, whatever their budget,” he said.
