New generation mowers get five-year warranty

Rotary mower specialist Spear- head has launched an upgraded gearbox for its new Multicut 470 and 630 models. Sold with a fi ve-year warran- ty and designed by Spearhead in the UK, the new machines deliv- er up to 50% more power when re- quired, with a horsepower rating increased from 111 to 165HP. Over- sized shafts and gears are also in- creased in stature by up to 30%. A key improvement concerns protection for the vulnerable low- er seal. While some manufactur- ers fail to protect this seal, Spear- head sees it as critical to prevent

costly damage to one of the most expensive components of the ro- tary mower.

“Low to the ground, it’s all too easy for grass and debris to wind around the shaft, risking potential- ly fatal damage to the lower seal”, says Spearhead chief design engi- neer Neil Warren.

“Should the seal break and oil leakage occur, the gearbox can be rendered useless. This is a poten- tially critical problem to face. Able to modify our own designs in-house, we’ve addressed this concern, seen on all makes of rotary mower, once and for all.”

The Agrispread range of the spreaders are capable of spreading a wide range of materials including lime, fertiliser, fibrophos, sand, salt and poultry waste. Hydraulic control of the spinners and drop point adjustment ensure accurate spreading up to 36 metres depending on the type of material. A range of models are available from 1.5 to 17 tonne and options include variable rate control, weigh cells with dynamic calibration and ISOBUS connection depending on the requirements of the customer.

ProStraw exhibits bale accumulator and stack cover system

Suffolk-based ProStraw Systems will be showcasing the benefi ts of operating a Parkland Bale Accu- mulator in tandem with a baler at LAMMA 2020. Visitors to the show will also be able to fi nd out more about ProStraw’s mechanised bale stack cover system – aimed at preventing bales from becom- ing water-damaged when stor- ing straw inside and away from the elements is not always pos-

sible or practical. Straw has become an increas- ingly valuable commodity in re- cent years. A surge in demand from the agricultural and renew- able energy sectors has seen val- ues rise – so effi ciency is key when both gathering and storing straw bales. The ProStraw sheeting system

and Parkland Bale Accumulator will be displayed at LAMMA on Stand 802 in Hall 6.
