New online service to support farmers
A new online resources hub to help farmers and their business- es stay strong and resilient will be exhibited at LAMMA by the Farming Community Network. FarmWell gives ready access to a range of information showing ways farmers and agricultural workers can maintain their phys- ical and mental well-being during changing times – and keep their businesses on top of their game. the EasyDrill and MaxiDrill in- clude a new electronics package with blockage sensing, individu- al row shut off and Isobus control – as well as a second Pro-Hopper allowing four products to be in- dividually metered and distrib- uted at once. With grain and fertiliser main tanks as standard and the possi- bility of adding one or two smaller Pro-Hoppers, the range of possi- ble applications the machine can be employed for is dramatically extended. The operator can now place seed, fertiliser, companion crops and plant protection prod- ucts accurately in one pass. This means, for example, that

ky Agriculture will have a whole host of updates for its EasyDrill and MaxiD-
crop of beans and phacelia to re- duce insect predation and insec- ticide usage.
“Sky has delivered what our customers have been asking for,” says Joe Redman, Sky Drills spe- cialist at distributors Opico. “The control update and op- tion of a fourth hopper and me- tering unit delivers a multitude of options for farmers to reduce their input costs and more accu- rately target where products are placed. There’s also greater op- portunity to improve soil health and reduce chemical usage.”
Two outlets
As with the previous generations of Sky drills, the 20 Series ma- chines have two outlets. The first of these is the disc coulter, with the second being a placement tube with three different posi- tions to allow depth to be varied. One Pro-Hopper places its

Rape at 2.3kg/ha should have a lower pressure to ensure good placement while DAP fertiliser at 150kg/ha can have a higher pres- sure. The fact that Sky uses two separate distribution systems re- duces the amount of material in each pipe and avoids blockages in damp conditions.

Smith said the organisation had been supporting Britain’s farm- ing community for almost 25 years. During this time, it had evolved from responding to farm- ers in crisis into an organisation which offered much more proac- tive support. “We now plan to be even more focussed on helping farmers to build personal and business re- silience,” said Mr Smith. “There is some really good in- formation available to help farm- ers become more resilient, but this information is very rarely in just one place and can often be difficult to access, especially if you are not in the right place mentally. This is where FarmWell can help. “We are launching it at a time when the whole industry is in- creasingly aware of the need to support farmers and we are al- ready working alongside sever- al key agricultural stakeholders in implementing this, including the AHDB.”
