About: Te Web Sling & Tie Down Association (WSTDA) is the largest non-profit international technical organization dedicated to the safe operation of all synthetic web slings and tie downs. Te association is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice as a Standards Writing Association.


Attendees: Manufacturers and suppliers of synthetic web slings, synthetic webbing, fibers, thread, and related components. WSTDA Member representatives as well as non-members are invited to attend.


Highlights: Te WSTDA Technical Committees meet in open forum to discuss industry issues, testing, government regulations, the development of WSTDA products, and to continue standards writing efforts. Tere are educational sessions as well, and the association accepts topic submissions online in the months leading up to each event.


ACRP General Assembly May 12-15, 2020 San Diego, CA www.acrp.net


About: Te 2020 ACRP General Assembly will mark the 25th Anniversary of the Association of Crane and Rigging Professionals (ACRP). Te General Assembly serves as the key annual gathering of the ACRP, which focuses on improving crane and rigging operations throughout the industry by providing opportunities for education to its members and the public.


Attendees: Usually around 100-200 crane and rigging industry professionals.


Highlights: ACRP members learn from tours of a number of different manufacturing facilities for the crane and rigging products they use. Breakout technical training sessions are also on the agenda. Check the website for more info as the event draws nearer.


2020 CRAC Conference and General Assembly May 27-30, 2020 Vancouver, BC www.crac-aclg.ca


About: Te Crane Rental Association of Canada (CRAC) is open to all crane companies, manufacturers, and suppliers to the industry. Members are from across Canada and the United States and include crane rental operations, manufacturers, and suppliers of cranes and equipment, suppliers of services used in the specialty crane rental business in Canada, and more. Te Association holds a General Meeting and Conference once a year. While there are a number of crane and rigging events held annually


in the U.S., the CRAC Conference presents a unique opportunity to meet and network with the leaders of the Canadian crane community.


Attendees: Crane rental operations, manufacturers, and suppliers of cranes and equipment, and suppliers of services used in the specialty crane rental business in Canada. Note that the CRAC Conference is open only to members. Tere’s no limit to how many delegates member companies may send, so the Conference is usually well-attended by most membership segments.


Highlights: In addition to a variety of social and networking opportunities, educational opportunities and talks constitute the bulk of the programming. Past presentation topics have included Cyber Security, Substance Abuse Prevention in the Workplace, and Attracting Millennials. Te Conference also includes awards presented for safety and longevity in the industry.


AIST 27th Crane Symposium June 7-9, 2020 Pittsburgh, PA www.aist.org


About: Te two-day symposium organized by Association of Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) Crane Technology Committee offers practical information and experiences from crane maintenance personnel, crane manufacturers, crane repair and service providers, engineering consultants, and more.


Attendees: Plant maintenance staff; applications, electrical, mechanical, safety, service and design engineers; operations and maintenance personnel and management; and parts, equipment, and service suppliers all typically attend.


Highlights: In addition to the educational and networking opportunities the event provides, AIST recently launched the Bring Your Own Young Professional (BYOYP) program to encourage members to do their part in boosting the next generation’s involvement in AIST and the steel industry. Presentations are often focused on safe work practices, electrical/mechanical/structural maintenance techniques, crane inspection technologies, and best practices in EOT crane modernization.
