Tandemloc operates from a facility in Havelock, North Carolina that covers more than 100,000 square feet.
Te company spent its first decade in New York, building its business and establishing a reputation for designing some of the market’s finest equipment for specialized container applications. But New York’s high manufacturing costs and a chance encounter would shift the company’s and the family’s trajectories for good. While DiMartino, Jr. and his wife were vacationing
in North Carolina, they met a realtor who, as he puts it, “… made us the offer we could not refuse.” Te financial incentive deal offered Tandemloc a new 5,000-square-foot building in Havelock, NC and, for two years, they’d only need to pay an unbelievable one dollar a month. “So, in 1992, we packed Tandemloc and our families
up and moved to North Carolina,” said DiMartino, Jr. When the two-year deal expired, Tandemloc
purchased the property and has been headquartered in Havelock ever since. “After all, our families had made eastern North
Carolina home and the Tandemloc family grew quickly because of the great employees we found in the local area,” DiMartino, Jr. explained. Since the move, Tandemloc has been able to expand their facility three different times, and now have more than 100,000 square feet of operating space. It’s also fitting that a company whose ethos is so imbued with a sense of family and community would make its most important business decision thanks to a turn of
good luck during a family vacation. In many ways, this spirit is what DiMartino, Jr. feels is the company’s distinguishing feature. “We are now ISO 9001 certified and have a great
formal process and excellent quality, which we’ve always been known for,” he assured. “Yet when you push back the covers, you’ll still find a laid-back, warm working environment headed by the DiMartino family members, who treat employees like family.”
